Information for Donors

The Episcopal Farmworker Ministry is a project of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina and the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina. We operate under the fiscal sponsorship of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina, employer identification number 56-0552784.

The Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina is an organization that is eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions and is listed in the Internal Revenue Service eligible organization database list formerly known as “Publication 78.”

All contributions received by the Diocese that are designated to benefit the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry will be used exclusively by the Ministry or for Ministry expenses.    

Cash donations.

Donations of cash may be made by credit card using the link on the Ministry’s website, or by check made payable to “Episcopal Farmworker Ministry” sent to the Ministry at 2989 Easy St., Dunn, NC 28334.  Donations of cash to the Ministry may also be made by sending a check to the above mentioned Dioceses and identifying the Ministry as the payee or intended beneficiary. 

Donations of stock. 

Information concerning the tax benefits of donating stock that has been held for at least one year and has appreciated in value is available from brokerage firms (such as Schwab, Fidelity, and Merrill Lynch) and from various financial publications.  Stock donations to the Ministry may be made by contacting Maria Gillespie of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina at maria.gillespie@episdionc.org, or LaTonya Smith of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina, at lsmith@diocese-eastcarolina.org.

Donations from Individual Retirement Accounts

Information concerning the benefits of making “qualified charitable distributions” (QCDs) from individual retirement accounts can be obtained from IRA custodians and from IRS publication 590-B, Distributions from Individual Retirement Accounts. Donations to the Ministry will constitute QCDs so long as the donor is at least 70 1/2 years old at the time of the donation and otherwise complies with QCD requirements.  QCDs may be made by check drawn on the IRA account and sent to the Ministry or the Diocese, or by inter-account transfer.  For information about inter-account transfers, contact Maria Gillespie of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina at maria.gillespie@episdionc.org, or LaTonya Smith of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina, at lsmith@diocese-eastcarolina.org.

Donor-advised funds. 

EFWM is eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions from donor-advised finds. Donations can also be made to the above-mentioned Dioceses and identifying the Ministry as the payee or intended beneficiary.  Donor-advised funds that require further information concerning the Diocese or the Ministry may contact info@efwm.org.
