Here at the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry, we work for justice and dignity for farmworkers and their families. Through education, the protection of their human rights, and the care of their bodies and souls, EFWM works to change the world and the system that keeps farmworkers in poverty and subhuman conditions.

Each fall, we host a Farmworker Festival to celebrate the contributions to our community and our country made by farmworkers and their families. This special event provides farmworkers with a space where they can celebrate their culture with music, traditional cuisine, and sports. They also have access to information about the services and resources available to them.

In 2018 the festival had to be cancelled due to Hurricane Florence, but in 2017 over 2,000 people attended. Most of the attendees are Latino American immigrants, mainly from Sampson, Johnston and Harnett, counties. Some attendees travel from Bladen, Wayne, Duplin, Cumberland, Lenoir and Pender counties. The festival includes a religious service, live music and performances, cultural exhibits, educational booths, activities for children, traditional cuisine, and sports.

Community sponsors are one of the primary sources of funding for the Farmworker Festival and will help ensure its success.
